Images with four hidden editions of Windows Vista have surfaced. In this context, you will be able to feast your eyes on the Vistas that Microsoft tucked away all this time. Launched for businesses in November 2006 and for the general consumers in January 2007, Vista came in a plethora of flavors, but just when you thought you've seen it all, Microsoft's latest operating system proves that it still has some surprises up its sleeve. In the adjacent image you can view the boxes for the four never before seen Vista editions.

With Windows Vista, Microsoft enables users to upgrade not only from a previous version of the Windows platform to the latest release, but also among the editions of the platform. Windows Anytime Upgrade is essentially designed to permit upgrading a basic edition of Vista to a more feature rich variant. Microsoft is offering the feature built into Windows Vista installation media containing the reference "Includes Windows Anytime Upgrade." Additionally, the Windows Anytime Upgrade editions of the operating system can be accessed via the Microsoft Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Packs.

There are four editions of the Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Packs, corresponding to the upgrade paths permitted by Microsoft. Users can move from Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Ultimate and from Windows Vista Business to Windows Vista Ultimate.

The Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Packs are for sale on Amazon.com with price labels varying from $79.95 to $199.95. Amazon.com is also the only online location featuring the boxes for the Vista Anytime Upgrade editions. Not even Microsoft provides visuals of the packagings, although it does allow users to order Windows Anytime Discs.

However, one detail that must be underscored is related to the prices of the Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Packs. While full and upgrade editions of Vista cost $299 - $ 199.00 for Business, $239 - $159 for Home Premium, $199 - $99.95 for Home Basic, and $399 - $259 for Ultimate, upgrading via Windows Anytime Upgrade Packs could mean paying more for a more complex edition of Windows Vista.

This because upgrading from Home Basic to Home Premium costs $79.95 while the difference between full licenses is just $40. Similarly, going from Business to Ultimate is $114.99, down from the original $139.95, but still more expensive than the actual price difference between the two editions, which is just $100. Still, upgrading from Home Basic to Ultimate is $199.95, and from Home Premium to Ultimate $159.99, or exactly the difference from the two home versions and the high-end variant of Windows Vista.
