The new icon theme is much better than the default one from KDE

The next iteration of KDE's Plasma has yet to arrive in its stable form, but a Beta has been made available. This enabled Nitrux designers to start the work on a new icon theme for Plasma Next, which actually looks a lot better than the one provided by KDE.

The KDE design for the icons hasn't changed much in the last couple of years, even if the developers did perform some improvements. The Nitrux designers made their own icon theme for the upcoming Plasma Next desktop and it looks amazing.

“In case you haven't seen the new icon theme for PlasmaNext. That is of course not the Plasma Next (workspace) theme nor the Qt theme that's ours, but the icons are for Plasma and the KDE Community at large. And yes, they're being worked on by Uri Herrera and done in InkScape of course,” said the Nitrux team on their Google + account.

The screenshot features more than the simple icon theme. The system in that image is also adorned with the Nitrux KDE suite, which will probably be compatible with KDE Frameworks 5.

The new icon theme is not ready yet, but you can check the progress made in the Github entry.
