This November, a new installment in “The Hunger Games” franchise is arriving in theaters, taking fans again on Katniss Everdeen’s risky journey. The story in “Mockingjay Part 1,” the one before the last installment, picks up after she was airlifted from the Arena of the Games and carried off to District 13, in “Catching Fire.”

So far, we’ve gotten bits and pieces of the kind of adrenaline-pumping adventure in store for us with “Mockingjay Part 1,” with this new trailer showing us the reason why Katniss, so far the reluctant revolution symbol, decides to go up against the Capitol.

The new teaser, which is available in full below, is called “Return to District 12,” and readers of Suzanne Collins’ novels, on which the films are based, have probably guessed that this is the moment Katniss returns home to find there is nothing but ruins left.

“She won’t be able to handle it. The games destroyed her,” a female voice is heard. “We need to make it personal for her. Let her see what the Capitol did to District 12,” a male voice responds, also in voiceover.

They’re the leaders of the resistance acting out of District 13, played by Julianne Moore and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. And personal is what they make it for Katniss, who arrives in her former hometown to face not a welcoming committee but the realization that all she ever knew was gone, including the people she grew up with.

However, it isn’t until the end of the video that she gets the decisive blow when, in a vase with dead flowers, she uncovers a hidden message from President Snow: a single white rose. The battle isn’t over, it’s just begun.

“Mockingjay Part 1” will be out on November 21.
