New Hi-Res Stills for ‘The Avengers’ Are Out

Marvel has finally come out with brand new photos for its 2012 sure-hit, “The Avengers,” which brings together some of the most popular and powerful superheroes in the Marvel universe.

After covering Entertainment Weekly, the superheroes are back to teasing comic book fans in these new photos (and high resolution versions of two previously released pics).

The gallery below includes shots of Chris Evans as Captain America, who wrecked havoc at the box office this year with “Captain America: The First Avenger,” and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

Stills with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, God of Thunder, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man have also been included.

Voices online note that these new photos differ from paparazzi shots and leaked pictures, in that they offer fans a better look at the costumes, while also allowing them to guess what scene they’re from.

Directed by Joss Whedon, “The Avengers” is out in theaters on May 4, 2012.
