A brand new trailer for “Hercules” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has made its way online. A full two and a half minutes long, it offers a more comprehensive look on the Greek demigod's past, which is filled with pain and suffering.

If you remember the legend correctly, Hercules' family suffered a tragic and early end at the hand of jealous gods who clouded his mind for a short while, making them all appear to him as monsters. From the trailer, we can see that the producers followed pretty much the same path as the ancient myth.

Johnson brings a little more humanity to his role in this trailer, whereas the first one was just about killing monsters and flexing his muscles. Of course, the video still contains footage from his famous 12 Labors, but it also explains his bitter and disillusioned nature.

Dwayne has poured a lot of heart in this project and he's hoping that some of that passion is going to ooze back onto the screen, where fans can appreciate it. There are high hopes for this summer blockbuster, or, at least hopes of faring much better than Kellan Lutz's version of Hercules which bombed at the box office.

Get ready to see “The Rock” as Hercules in cinemas this July.
