The company also unleashed a new version of the Chromebook 11

Like many brand vendors present at IFA 2014 in Berlin, HP came prepared to show a few products of its own. You might remember that Toshiba rolled out its next-gen Chromebook model, which comes with a refreshed design and full HD display.

Well, HP is doing the same now, by pulling two new Chromebook models out of the bag and into the world, one of which is the new version of the company’s flagship Chromebook 11.

Anyway, the most interesting of the two proved to be the larger HP Chromebook 14 which is the company’s first to adopt an ARM-based NVIDIA chip.

Following in the footsteps of Acer, HP becomes the second device maker to offer a Chromebook taking advantage of NVIDIA’s new Tegra K1 processor.

As for the new Chromebook 11, HP has swapped out the Samsung Exynos 5 ARM-based processor used with older models and has brought in an Intel Bay Trail chip instead. Let’s take them one at a time and walk you through the detailed specifications.

The new Chromebook doesn’t differ that much from its predecessors. It still comes with an 11.6-inch display and the resolution you are accustomed to see on any laptop (1366 x 756 pixels).

Under the hood rests an Intel Celeron N2830 chip fitted with either 2GB or 4GB of RAM (the choice is yours) and backed up by 16GB of internal storage.

Moreover, customers will find onboard USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, HDMI out and headset jack. The notebook is available with 802.11ac or 802.11n Wi-fi, Bluetooth and optional 4G LTE / HSPA connectivity. Battery life is expected to provide users with up to 8 hours of run time.

HP mentions that the new Chromebook should become available for purchase in the US starting October 5 for $280 / €216 a pop in Ocean Turquoise or Snow White variants, but for some odd reason the official website shows it with a price of $200 / €155.

With the new HP Chromebook 14, the company decided to adopt NVIDIA’s latest Tegra K1 chip architecture. The press release mentions that the lappy will be taking advantage of an FHD display, but the HP official website lists the laptop as offering the same 1366 x 768 res.

HP has made the new Tegra K1 laptop quite sleek and that’s probably due to the fact it is a fanless machine.

Apart from what we already told you, the notebook has 16GB of internal storage, 2GB/4GB of RAM, USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, HDMI out, headset jack and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

The Chomebook 14 will start selling October 22 for $300 / €232 and customers will be able to pick it up in Smoke Siler, Sorbet Orange, Ocean Turquoise and Neon Green.
