GravityZone, Bitdefender’s enterprise security solution, has reached a development stage deemed ready by the company to invite users to take it for a spin.

The product is intended for on-premises protection of both physical and virtual endpoints. It relies on the Bitdefender Reflective Artificial Intelligent Networks, suggestively shortened BRAIN, to mitigate the threat risk on any endpoint, regardless of its geographical location.

The company says that GravityZone is designed for quick deployment and can be launched in mere minutes thanks to its self-configuring kit.

Increased performance of physical systems during security scans

The latest beta iteration of the product promises to take technological advancements farther than ever by including components specifically designed for protecting virtual desktops and for keeping e-mail servers running Microsoft Exchange safe.

More than this, the company implemented a Device Control module that helps the administrator expand the security policies to peripheral devices connected to the computer.

The mechanism consists in creating a list of approved USB devices that can interact with the machine. Anything outside the agreed set of devices is denied connection.

According to the communication from the company, testing the product will show the advantages for physical machines during the security scanning process; the activity is not carried out on the actual system, but offloads to a dedicated appliance. This way, performance impact is drastically minimized.

Furthermore, the product integrates new VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) components designed to fight desktop-specific threats in data centers.

Final version is scheduled for March 2015

“The Next Generation GravityZone combines a carefully planned array of new cutting edge technology with enhancements that meet common client requests,” said Bitdefender Chief Security Strategist Catalin Cosoi.

“The result is a highly efficient product that meets the needs of virtually any business environment with pinpoint accuracy. Beta testing is a crucial part of this whole process and Bitdefender offers sincere gratitude to all who help,” he added.

Taking the product for a test run requires registration. After this step, the user receives a license valid through the entire beta stage.

A company representative told us in a phone conversation that the improved version of the product is scheduled to launch in March 2015, but did not mention a specific date.

As far as the cost is concerned, there are various prices, depending on the installed modules, the number of endpoints that need to be protected, and the type of scanning the client chooses (on-premises or in the cloud).
