Google is now testing a new Image Search interface for tablets. Its main search page also comes with a customized look on tablets, so the extension makes sense.
Google is taking an interesting approach, displaying the images in the results in a slideshow, enabling users to both see the larger version but also look at the other photos in the results.
Only if they really want to, they can go to the original site and see the image in context. Google already does this, to a lesser degree, with the desktop Image Search.
However, generating a slideshow out of the image results is a change for Google. It already does this with images as well as instant previews on mobile phones.
On the desktop side,
Yahoo Image Search takes the same approach, creating a slideshow out of the results, to which it just added sharing on Twitter and Facebook.
