Godzilla is also depicted as the savior of mankind and not its destructor

As the new Asian version of “Godzilla” trailer hits the web, we get a better understanding of what the writers and producers had in mind with this movie that is considered to be a tribute to the original Japanese one.

What shocks the most is the total change in attitude towards the main protagonist of the movie, the monster called “Godzilla.” He is no longer presented to the audience as an unstoppable force of nature, but a savior of mankind, even “a god.”

Apart from this complete change in attitude, we also get a better look at Godzilla, probably our best one yet, as he seems to have been sent to deal with a very dangerous flying monster that's terrorizing mankind.

Ken Watanabe's character, Dr. Ichira Serizawa, can be heard saying in the trailer that “The arrogance of men is thinking nature is in their control and not the other way around.” Then he hints at the two monsters, Godzilla and the winged creature, and says, “Let them fight.”

This winged creature is believed to have been spawned by humanity's scientific arrogance, but it ends up threatening our very existence, and it's up to an ancient creature that has laid dormant for a long time to save us.

Apart from Ken Watanabe, the cast is made up of Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and David Strathairn. “Godzilla” will open in cinemas across the world starting May 16.
