Though labeled as a “Godzilla” featurette, the video is actually a short interview with the movie's director, Gareth Edwards, in which he explains why he wanted to take on a more “serious” approach to the franchise that has been progressively diluted in Hollywood over the years.

Apart from featuring a brand new monster, one that looks less like a dinosaur and more like the original creature in the Japanese flicks, the new “Godzilla” movie also stars the talents of a couple of talented Hollywood actors such as Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche and Elizabeth Olsen.

For those that don't know, Godzilla has a very rich legacy. As a movie franchise, it ran between 1954 and 2004, amassing during that time no fewer than 28 films. Apart from that, the monster has also been featured in comic books, novels, TV series and video games.

Edwards is very aware of that legacy and he's very keen on trying to preserve as much as possible in his creation. He seems to be very keen to depart from the last “Godzilla” movie made by Hollywood, that came out in 1998, was made by “Independence Day” director Roland Emmerich and was rather poorly received.

Based on the trailers and other promotional materials so far, it's safe to say that he's managed to achieve his goal.
