Samsung DROID Charge is one of Verizon's LTE smartphones that has not been updated to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system as of yet, although work on coming up with such an OS upgrade has been undergoing for the past several months. A new such build is now available into the wild, EP4P, and all those who like downloading and installing such leaked software on their devices can now try a new flavor of Gingerbread on their DROID Charge.

Although this is one of the many ROMs that leaked for the device, there is no telling on whether it is actually a final build or not.

Specific info on when the official Gingerbread update might be pushed out to the smartphone hasn't emerged as of yet.

The new build EP4P for DROID Charge is said to be working properly, which suggests that Samsung is nearing the final flavor of the update.

However, it seems that this is not the first ROM to leak for the mobile phone with complete functionality, which means that the actual update might be either right around the corner or several months away.

Those who would like to download and install the newly leaked ROM for the DROID Charge should know that they will be doing so at their own risk.

This is not an official release, and they will be the only ones to be held responsible provided that anything goes wrong during the process.

All the necessary files are available for download from the mydroidworld forums. Before proceeding with the installation, users should also consider performing a backup of their devices, so as to make sure that no important files are lost in the process.

Those who are not into flashing their handsets should sit back and wait for the official release to arrive. Users who would like to get a taste of Gingerbread on their DROID Charge before Samsung and Verizon make a move in this direction should go to the aforementioned forum and download the new build EP4P.
