New-Generation iMacs Get Pushed to February

Apple is listing a 3-4-week shipping estimate for its high-end (Late 2012) iMac configurations, delaying their delivery yet again. With three weeks left in the month of January, some iMac orders placed today may only materialize in February.

Apple has faced a series of delays with its new-generation all-in-one computers and it seems the Late 2012 iMac is not out of the woods just yet.

CEO Tim Cook himself admitted during a conference call (discussing Apple’s financials) that the latest iMac models were tough to build.

The Cupertino giant is known to be using friction-stir-welding technology to bind together the parts that make up the new iMac’s enclosure, as well as a delicate lamination process to reduce screen glare.

The new iMacs begin at $1,299/€1.349 for the low-end 21.5-inch model and the price goes all the way up to $1,999/€2.049 for the high-end 27-inch configuration with a 3,2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 CPU and Fusion Drive.
