It seems that Samsung enjoys the idea of becoming a gaming phone developer. The company revealed some time ago a concept for a joystick handset meant to enhance mobile gaming and now comes with two new ones, somewhat more practical.

It is clear that Samsung has been investing quite a lot into the development of mobile gaming phone concepts. As games themselves have become more and more complex, the market now asks for devices to meet the demand for proper means to enjoy this type of entertainment at best standards.

The need for mobility is the concept which has set the beginning of a new era in mobile gaming, as people now want to be able to play their favorite games anywhere and any time they feel like. For this reason, handset producers have taken into consideration the possibility of bringing products capable of meeting these demands.

Both Samsung's new phone concepts are pretty simple to understand and comfortable to use. The first patent features a foldable keypad and a hinge unit to team with the main body. There are actually three keypads, two disposed sideways of the screen and designed for PSP-like gameplay, while the remaining one is used for entering text and navigating through the phone's menu. The hinge unit rotatably connects the foldable keypad to the main body.

The second Samsung patent includes a main body and a sliding housing that allows the main part to open or close. There is also a lateral speaker meant to provide high quality sounds and make gaming experience more enjoyable.

We saw Sony Ericsson gaming phone patents receive approval in the past too, but this does not mean that they were actually deployed too. Samsung has made no official statement on this concept actually being released on the market in the near future, although three different concepts leave some room for more choices.
