We're not sure just how many of you are aware of this, but the TV sets and displays used for commercial applications, such as hotel rooms, hospitals, public venues, etc. are quite different from consumer-grade products, the main difference being the fact that they have to provide a significantly enhanced functioning life, given the fact that some of them will be used almost non-stop. And now, Korean company LG Electronics has decided to roll out a brand new series of Full HD 3D LCD and commercial LED HDTVs, targeting exactly the aforementioned lodging and hospitality industries. The 3D LCD (model LD950C) is LG's first 3D LCD HDTV for hospitality properties and offers a truly cinematic experience away from the theaters and in the luxury setting of the hotel, especially since it's available in a 47-inch class size with a glossy black finish. Unlike consumer 3D models that use expensive active shutter 3D glasses, this LG commercial passive 3D TV is based on polarized eyewear, similar to those used in 3D movie theaters. The device's capable of displaying content in 1080p Full HD with a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1, and also offers some pretty OK viewing angle, of 178 degrees. For hoteliers looking for a crisp picture without using more energy, the new commercial LED (model LE530C) has technologies to reduce power consumption. This LED model features cloning capabilities for public display settings and is available in 42-, 47- and 55-inch class sizes, while also offering a slim 1.2-inch profile, LED backlighting, and a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Moreover, all of LG's new HDTVs feature EcoSmart technology with multiple manual and automatic options for energy conservation. "With its growing popularity, LG is the first to offer hoteliers the opportunity to give their guests the ultimate 3D viewing experience during their hotel stay," said Ron Snaidauf, vice president of Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA Business Solutions. "By combining polarized 3D technology with LG's signature stylish designs, we are offering hotels additional experiences for the best in hospitality entertainment."
