Recent word on the street had it that Fujifilm might be gearing up to launch a new prime lens with focal length of 35mm and a max aperture of f/1.4.

Now new information reported by FujiRumors claim the next-gen Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 lens will arrive with a new autofocus motor. Apart from that, nothing will change compared to the current version.

The Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 is part of the original trio released for Fujifilm-X mount cameras. Now Fuji will add a new AF motor in the next-gen 35mm f/1.4 optic in order to make it comparable with the autofocus speeds of the XF 23mm f/1.4R and XF 56mm f/1.2 R models.

The report doesn't tell us anything regarding image quality, but it’s pretty safe to assume some improvements are going to be spotted.

Moving on, at the moment there’s no evidence suggesting the lens might be weather sealed. Other details lacking from the puzzle include dimensions. The current 35mm isn't big or bulky, but it would be nice if Fuji managed to slim down the successor.

While we wait for further details about the new lenses, I should point out that the current 35mm f/5 lens is currently in stock at Amazon with a price-tag of $600 / €440.
