We've already gotten used to the announcements regarding the flaws discovered in the programs developed by Microsoft, and the giant from Redmond doesn't "disappoint" us, a new security breach being found in Windows XP Service Pack 2, only a few days after Microsoft has launched three new patches for the critical flaws in Windows and Word.

Microsoft has acknowledged that it is working on a patch for this vulnerability, following public disclosure of the vulnerability by a private security researcher who goes by the moniker "badpack3t", according to the Hardwarezone.com.

In an advisory posted at SecurityProtocols.com, the researcher gave some details regarding this issue, which seems to be a remote kernel denial-of-service flaw affecting XP SP2, with the default firewall turned on.

The security company Secunia Inc. has flagged the issue, which affects the Windows "Remote Desktop" feature, as "moderately critical" and confirmed the reports that the integrated firewall does not protect against the flaw.

Despite the issues, Microsoft continues to encourage customers to download Windows XP Service Pack 2, insisting that it offers a "significant step" toward Microsoft's goal of making the operating system more secure by default.
