This firmware addresses the detection issue on certain systems

Samsung has recently updated the firmware of its 840 EVO SSD to version EXT0BB0Q. This release fixes compatibility issues with a certain program (PC doctor), optimizes the noise immunity across the internal memory interfaces and addresses the detection issue on certain systems.

The firmware comes in iso and zip formats. The zipped files must be opened with Samsung Magician Software, while the iso can be used only via DOS using a bootable CD/DVD.

To install it, Samsung recommends that you use its software because of its user-friendliness. Download and install it and, after you open it, look on the left menu for the “Firmware update” button.

From there, just browse for your firmware file and apply the update. Wait for the restart and it's all done.

One thing you must do before everything else is back up your drive. You wouldn't want to risk all your important data.
