Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is gearing up for the release of new firmware upgrades for various handsets in its Xperia family, and has already submitted the new software for certification.

The PTCRB certification website has listed firmware updates for handsets such as Xperia T and Xperia V, as well as for the Xperia SP, and for the Xperia E1.

The new software for the Xperia T and Xperia V is set to arrive as version 9.2.A.1.199, and is said to bring along a variety of bug fixes for both smartphones. According to XperiaGuide, issues such as battery drain and increased RAM usage are some of the bugs that the owners of these phones have already reported.

However, the PTCRB listing does not offer specific info on what the update will include, and it remains to be seen whether it will indeed pack fixes for said issues. No info on its release date has been provided either.

Xperia SP users should also see a series of bug fixes packed inside the upcoming firmware version 12.1.A.1.192 that has been certified for them (compatible with models C5302, C5303 and C5306).

Some of the issues expected to be addressed include battery drain, missing volume buttons, lag, and increased RAM usage for no apparent reason, among others.

As for Xperia E1, the device just seen software version 20.0.A.1.8 certified for it. Based on Android 4.3, the firmware supposedly signals the near availability of Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual worldwide.
