The new releases aim to fix the manual exposure auto bracketing issue

Sigma's most recent release involves two new firmware updates: one for its SD1 camera and one for its sibling, the SD1 Merrill. Versions 1.13 and 1.08, respectively, aim to fix manual exposure auto bracketing issues. A more detailed view over the enhancements brought by this update can be found on a parallel blog from our photo section.

However, the update procedure falls into my hands for further detailing.

To begin with, download the firmware file suitable for your camera. You can find the files at the links below the text. Next, format a memory card in the camera body. This will erase all data on the device so make sure you have copied all important data to a safe location. Fully charge the battery.

Use a card reader to connect the CF memory to the computer and copy the SD1U_113.BIN and SD1V_113.BIN files to the root folder. Safely remove the device and plug in the camera.

Power it up and press the “Menu” button. In the camera setup menu (the “wrench” icon) select “Firmware update” and press the “OK” key. The next screen displays the current firmware installed on the camera body and the one stored on the memory card. Confirm the process and accept the installation.

The progress is monitored through a “Now loading...” screen which also mentions that, when the update completes, the camera restarts.

Get the latest firmware for your Sigma camera at the links below, install it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
