Sentry Safe, a leader in residential and small office security-storage containers, announced yesterday the launch of its next generation 250GB FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof Hard Drive, capable of providing data protection from fire and water disasters and computer crashes. The development of the innovative, award-winning hard drive that enables users to back-up their critical data was possible due to a partnership between SentrySafe and Maxtor Storage Solutions.

"SentrySafe is always looking to introduce new products to meet the needs of consumers. With the new 250GB fire-resistant and waterproof hard drive, SentrySafe is putting the 'hard' in hard drive," said Sondra McFarlane, director of customer development for SentrySafe.

The first and only 160GB FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof Hard Drive was unveiled by Sentry
Safe at the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2008 in January. The device won the "Best of CES Innovations 2008" from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). "Editor's Choice Award" was also honored to the 160 GB Hard Drive, which is given to the top 20 products launched at CES. Encouraged by the success of its device, Sentry Safe unveils today a hard drive featuring a larger memory capacity, the 250GB Hard Drive.

The award-winning Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini hard drive, featuring a full suite of software protection tools, the first mobile storage solution of this kind, is included in the SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof Hard Drive model QA0005. Among the featured protection solutions, there is the data encryption and Maxtor's SafetyDrill software, a bare metal system restore SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof enclosure encases the hard disk, offering protection against fire and water. The device has been third-party ETL-verified, and test results show it can offer 30-minute fire protection, up to 1550 degrees F, and can be kept under water for up to 24 hours.

"With this new product, we're able to provide consumers and small business owners with an innovative means to securely back up their important data, digital photos, critical files and documents. Should an unexpected disaster occur, a person's vital information will be stored on a disaster-proof hard drive," McFarlane added.

The need for safe devices that can offer users the required protection for their personal data is continuously increasing. More and more people use CDs, DVDs and external hard drives as means of storing information. The number of hard drives sold during the past years is bigger, and the SentrySafe Data & Document Security product line is included among the best options users have for data back-up and protection.

The new SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof 250GB Hard Drive, along with the Data & Document Security products, including the 160GB SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof Hard Drive, a multipurpose SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof Data Storage Chest capable of providing connected peril protection for data storage devices, CDs and DVDs, world's first multipurpose USB-connected SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Water-Resistant Safe (1.2 cu.ft. and 2.0 cu.ft. Sizes), and SentrySafe FIRE-SAFE/Waterproof CD/DVD File, are offered by Sentry Safe as proof of its interest and care for users' needs.
