Yahoo has announced that today it will unveil a new version of its financial information site. The Yahoo Finance beta facelift will materialize as upgrades to the stock charting tools, investors' chat rooms
and financial video news. Finance.yahoo.com has 33% of the U.S. online finance market. This percentage is sufficient to ensure its position as market leader, MSN MoneyCentral following in second place with a share three times smaller of 13%.
The revamped Yahoo Finance beta site comprises a full screen stock charting tool that allows a single click adding of events, access to competitor charts and clicks and drag customization. The investor message boards has been rethought to offer threaded conversation centered on specific stock subjects and the ability to rate the importance level of messages. Yahoo also provides sophisticated technical analysis tolls from advanced users but also educates novice investors on the workings of the site's tools. Yahoo Finance will also feature hand picked finance-related videos from ABC.com, Cnn.com, Forbes.com and SmartMoney.
Yahoo representatives have also announced that in an effort to boost its audience, Yahoo Finance information will be embedded on various websites that will feature stock charts, quotes and fragments of financial news. "Yahoo Finance is introducing this feature, but before long you will see this coming from other parts of Yahoo," said Yahoo Finance General Manager Peggy White, revealing the existence of plans to allow other Web sites to serve up Yahoo entertainment, sports or news items.
