Video game publisher Square Enix has launched a new update for Final Fantasy XIII-2, labeled 1.03, and the big change is that players are now able to press R3 on the PlayStation 3 version of the game while in the Historia Crux game mode in order to send an instant status update to the social network Facebook.

The Japanese role-playing game seems to be bowing down to the requirements of modern video game – social network integration with the new feature and some Facebook users will probably soon complain about the number of unwanted updates hitting their news feeds.

The company has also confirmed that the Lightning Coliseum battle downloadable content will be launched next week and will allow gamers to fight the character from the original XIII and will then see her join their party if defeated.

Square Enix also has long-term plans for DLC, including more costumes for Serah and other battles set inside the Coliseum.
