The Fedora Unity Project posted yesterday a new version of their popular Re-Spin DVD for the Fedora 9 Linux distribution. The new F9 Re-Spin is based on the official Fedora 9 (codename Sulphur) installation media, with all the updates released as of December 17th, 2008 and it's compatible with i386, x86_64 and PPC architectures. However, this is (once again) a DVD only release, because of some known issues in comps. Moreover, it appears that the new Re-Spin has some installation bug (which is now closed and not fixed) if some language groups are selected: "Selecting some language groups will cause file conflict errors, such as reported and explained in #465715" - said the Fedora Unity team in the official release announcement.

Fedora 9 was officially released on May 13th, 2008 and it was the first Linux distribution to introduce hard drive encryption support implemented in the Live installer (a feature that is still missing from the popular Ubuntu OS). It also featured Linux kernel 2.6.25, GNOME 2.22.1, GIMP 2.4.5 and Firefox 3 Beta 5.

The Fedora Unity Re-Spins are created to provide users with a fresh and up-to-date installation of the Fedora Linux distribution. It is a community project, for the Fedora community and by the Fedora community, therefore anyone can contribute to it. Fedora is an operating system based on the Linux kernel, and which focuses on wide access, distribution and free modification. It's built by a worldwide community (the Fedora Project), which grants access to anyone wishing to further advance the development of open-source software.
