Better SmartGlass integration for Xbox One, screenshsot & video capturing on PC are coming soon from Microsoft

Microsoft confirms that it's going to share an array of new features for Xbox fans, as part of the May firmware update preview version, not to mention the Xbox application on Windows 10. From the possibility to record videos and screenshots in PC games, to new SmartGlass compatibility on the console, many great things are coming.

Microsoft is not only focusing on the Xbox One console nowadays, as it has also made it clear that it wants a bigger presence on the PC platform, as part of the upcoming Windows 10 operating system.

The corporation has already released special preview versions of the Xbox One May firmware update with a few new features, and now it shares a few more future plans relating to both the console system software update and the new additions to the Xbox application on the Windows 10 preview edition.

Xbox One owners are getting new ways of using SmartGlass

First up, Microsoft confirms on the blog of its Community Manager Larry Hryb that the next beta version of the May firmware update for the Xbox One will be released in the following weeks for participants in the Xbox Live Preview program.

It brings the earlier announced over-the-air TV support in U.S. and Canada, not to mention new methods of interacting with the console via SmartGlass mobile apps. These new options include the ability to power on and off the Xbox One.

Voice messages will be fully implemented in the preview firmware, as well as the user-selectable power mode and a Wireless Display application.

Meanwhile, PC users running the Windows 10 insider version are going to receive an update for the Xbox application, taking it to version 4.4.9014.0, which comes with built-in Xbox controller drivers, as well as the option of capturing gameplay videos or screenshots and sharing them straight from the app.

The Xbox live tile will offer more information to users, and they can admire better user profiles, complete with animated avatars.
