Even with so-called next-generation video boards coming out, already available boards are still among the primary subjects of custom card builders' attention, as is proven by ASUS' most recent product.

No doubt those mindful of the news will have learned that NVIDIA just revealed the GeForce 540M mobile graphics.

This is the first discrete GPU from the 500 series that the Santa Clara, California-based company showed so far.

No doubt consumers, particularly those from the enthusiast market are now eagerly awaiting the GTX 570.

Basically, the GeForce GTX 570 will replace the GTX 470 and is powered by the GF110 GPU that also exists in the GTX 580.

The launch of that card will take place tomorrow, December 7, 2010, but ASUS has, in the meantime, brought out another controller.

It´s a new version of the GeForce GTS 450, the card that came to replace the GTS 250 on the higher level of the mainstream segment, known as the performance market.

For those seeking a reminder, the GTS 450 was well received because it had a good performance while lacking the high temperature and power draw, not to mention price, of its older siblings (GTX 480 and 470 in particular, since the GTX 460 also got favorable reviews).

The newcomer is known as ENGTS450/DI/1GD5 and, as users have probably guessed by now, it has higher clocks than the reference model.

The GF106 GPU is clocked at 810 MHz, while the 192 CUDA cores (shaders) and the 1 GB of GDDR5 memory operate at frequencies of 1,620 MHz and 3,608 MHz, respectively.

ASUS also added EMI shielding, the GPU Guard (boost durability), a memory interface of 128 bits, POSCAPs, 4-phase power and a 6-pin PCIe connector.

Finally, it has D-sub, DVI and HDMI ports, plus support for 2-way SLI multi-GPU setups. Unfortunately, the price has not yet been unveiled.
