There's always room for one more first-person shooter in your library, isn't there? Well, Dusk2Dawn Interactive thought so too when announcing Lockdown, an FPS set to deliver frenetic shooting and an explosive storyline along with some action game elements which, on top of it all, features a "cast of characters who might be your best friends - or maybe one is a traitor", according to the official report.

Given that StarFish Game Studios (subsidiary of D2D) is handling the development process, we can all assume that Dusk2Dawn is going to deal with publishing and distributing the new title. Now let's see what they've revealed about the game so far. According to the report, players will take the role of Cale Mollens, a new recruit, recently assigned to be the 'trigger-man' on the Earth's most powerful spaceship.

Pirates attempt to take over the Earth's most powerful spaceship - which has enough firepower to destroy a planet - it is up to Cale Mollens, callsign 'TRIGGER', to Lockdown the 20 terminals used to arm the ship's weapon system. That's about it, as far as the game's plot is concerned (at least for now), but D2D assures that it is an explosive one, with great movies that help the story take many twists and turns. Also, they say the game will feature 21 levels, boasting some interesting characters that players will interact with.

"I'm really excited about the 'trust' element in this game," said Neil Cotton, Director at Dusk2Dawn Interactive Limited. "Along the way the player will get helpful briefs and radio comms from fellow crew members, but one thing that should strike players quickly is: if this is the most powerful spaceship in the galaxy, how did the pirates get on board so quickly? Maybe there is a traitor in the ranks?"

He added that "The crew members will try to help in a situation, but they won't always give the right answer, however does that mean that they were trying to kill you, or were they simply wrong, maybe they're panicking under the pressure." Cotton claims that this is "for the player to work out!", also confirming that "the script has been cleverly written to keep the player alert when taking advice."

Scheduled to ship under the Level Play brand between the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 (2008 it is), they've already set the title's price point at ?14.99 - that's around $22, which is a very good price.
