Electronic Arts has confirmed that FIFA 12 on platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 will be on the receiving end of a hefty patch in two or three weeks, with EA Sports community manager Romily Broad confirming some of the things that will be addressed by the update.

FIFA 12 impressed legions of football (soccer) fans from all around the world, managing to sell a whopping 3.2 million in its first week, breaking sales records left and right, especially in a month where another major release, Gears of War 3, already happened.

Now, just as the football simulator is reaching the hands of millions of gamers, EA Sports is focusing on improving the experience and eliminating any sort of problems reported by players.

Community manager Romily Broad confirmed during the latest FIFA 12 podcast, via Eurogamer, that a patch is coming soon and brings a variety of improvements.

"Two or three weeks from now the first patch will happen and that's going to make big corrections to some of the things that are bothering people the most," Broad said. "We're going to be doing this constantly, with our thumbs in the middle of the community trying to get people to tell us what they think, and then we'll be acting on it for the rest of the season.

"That's a commitment we're definitely making," he added. "It would be nice if people came and talked to us about the things that are bothering them, because we are going to be listening."

The FIFA Ultimate Team feature is going to be modified by the developers at EA Sports, especially the option where users can let the AI control the players in the field, while they focused just on the goalkeeper.

"People seem to be exploiting this," he explained. "If they're not very good at defending they can use this to get an unfair advantage. People who are very good at the game won't have a problem. They'll just be able to pass it around your defenders and you'll find yourself one-on-one with their top strikers every time.

"But that's something we've got under review. If we think the vast majority of people hate it we'll do something about it."

Expect more details about the new FIFA 12 patch in the following weeks ahead of its release.
