LG has once again released a couple of external hard drives meant to please both end-users and their machines. In a purely technical and aesthetic way, of course. The new storage modules will impress South Korean consumers both through their stylish design and their storage capability, which surpasses most other storage units, regardless of whether they are internal or external. They are known as the XG1 Chic External HDDs.

As most good-looking products from the company, the Chic drives will only be available, at least initially, on the market in South Korea. This is rather unfortunate for the rest of the world, considering that the modules are more than just their good looks.

They can provide either 1.5TB or two whole terabytes of storage space even while sporting a 3.5-inch form factor. Not only that, but the two models even comply with the RoHS requirements, making them environment-friendly as well. The XG1 makes use of the USB 2.0 interface but will also work with USB 1.1 ports.

The drives are meant for use in any kind of storage applications but will go especially well with office workers who are interested in handy storage solutions that don't make visitors' eyes bleed by looking out of place in the living room or the office desk. The product comes in black and white versions and is even bundled with a special stand that allows it to be placed on any surface, both vertically and horizontally.

Currently, the official launch is set for next month but, as already mentioned, LG will, initially, only grace the South Korean consumer base with its Chic drives. The rest of the planet will have to resign itself to waiting until a later time for the company to make them available in other regions.
