Samsung expanded its line-up of affordable handsets with two new models: B200 and B110, recently showcased at an event in Singapore, along with other handsets that were previously announced.

Both B200 and B110 have very basic features, like all of the B-series Samsung phones (B510, B300 or B100), and apparently they will be available only across Asia. Even so, the new handsets can reach high sales, especially if launched on emerging markets, where there's a high demand for basic (hence cheap) phones.

Samsung B200 (or SGH-B200) measures 104 x 44.5 x 16 millimeters, weighs about 80 grams and comes in a classic candybar form factor. The phone features a 1.5 inch CSTN display with 128 x 128 pixels and 65K colors, dual-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz) with GPRS, FM radio with recording function, mobile tracker (useful if the phone is lost or stolen), WAP 2.0, handsfree, Java MIDP 2.0, a phonebook than can store up to 500 entries, T9 predictive text, calculator, calendar, alarm and a 1000 mAh battery of unknown performances. What's a bit funny is that, although B200 only has 2MB of internal memory and no microSD card slot, it's said to feature an MP3 player. But 2MB is not enough to store a single decent MP3, so I can't see how exactly you should use that MP3 Player.

Samsung B110 (or SGH-B110) is also a candybar, but it's a bit smaller: 72 grams and 102 x 45 x 15 millimeters. The phone has even fewer features than B200, offering a CSTN screen with 65K colors and 128 x 128 pixels, 900 / 1800 MHz GSM connectivity with GPRS, 600KB of internal memory, WAP 2.0, handsfree, alarm, calendar, calculator, T9 predictive text and a 800 mAh Li-Ion battery capable of providing up to 3 hours of talk-time and up to 200 hours of stand-by time.

Samsung B200 and B110 should be available at the end of July the latest, most probably for retail prices well below $200.
