While fans may feel as if they’ve seen every biopic about Elvis Presley that was ever made, it should still come as great news that a new one is in the pipeline. This one will focus on the King’s spiritual side.

David E. Stanley, Elvis’ step-brother, spent 17 years with the star and saw him through thick and thin, coming to regard him as a mentor.

His experience was documented in the book “Conversations With the King: Journals of a Young Apprentice,” which is now at the basis of the film “Growing Up Graceland,” The Hollywood Reporter writes.

“After meeting David Stanley, reading his book and listening to his stories, I realized there is another side to the Elvis phenomenon, a bigger story, and one that has never been told,” Gene Kirkwood of BiteSize Entertainment says of the new film.

“If Elvis was alive today, in this time of revolution in mass communication, I believe he would be one of the most inspirational individuals in the world,” Kirkwood adds.

Ultimately, the new biopic will tell the story of a man struggling with fame and addiction, and turning to religion for comfort.
