ASUSTek is undoubtedly taking a considerable interest in the development and marketing of its Eee PC lineup. Especially since these devices are expected to change the face of portable
computer market. According to some recent news citing sources at channel vendors, the Taiwanese manufacturer plans to release two new models as part of their Eee PC 900-series.

Apparently, the new netbooks are intended to provide users with an alternative to the company's Eee PC 900 and 901 models. These new editions will be dubbed Eee PC 904 and 905 and are expected to boast the same 8.9-inch display found on the 900 and 901 sub-notebooks. The Eee PC 904 and 905 are also expected to be equipped with an Intel Atom processor and provide the same performance level as their predecessors. At this time, the new netbooks are expected to bring a bigger keyboard, although ASUSTeK is said to be evaluating whether to make changes to the battery and storage capacity of the two models.

According to the cited sources, ASUSTeK expects its Eee PC 904 and 905 to come out with a similar price range as the current 900 and 901. The new models are expected to eventually replace the old ones. Apparently, the company is also rumored to be considering a price drop for the 900 and 901, which will clear its inventory. Currently there are no details concerning a possible release for these new models.

If the rumors are true, then ASUSteK's strategy is rather strange. Why go ahead and release a product that will be replaced soon after its release, especially since the new one provides slightly better specifications?

Still, with all the recent news about the company's Eee PC lineup, we should expect more changes and even new products to be announces by the end of this year.
