South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system, and the device has just made an appearance into the wild. The handset is expected to arrive on shelves in the United States at wireless carrier
T-Mobile, the available info on it suggests.
The device sports a sliding form factor, wich is complemented by the inclusion of a second touchscreen display into the mix, in the middle of the keyboard.
As can be seen in the photos attached to this article, courtesy of
Pocket-lint, the mobile phone's second screen will display a series of shortcuts for fast access to popular applications and the like.
The keyboard will be split in two, with the touchscreen in the middle. Eight shortcuts will be present on the small display there, with two of them being user customizable, it seems.
In addition to these special features, the LG smartphone will come with all of the usual capabilities of an Android-powered mobile phone.
The handset should sport a photo snapper on the back, with LED flash, but of unknown resolution for the time being. The screen does not seem to be a great one, as on some of the latest devices from the company.
Other info on the mobile phone is unknown at the moment, but the device does seem pretty appealing, although it might not be high-end when released on shelves.
However, it seems that the device is not final at the moment, which means that it might suffer hardware changes, as well as modifications of the software before being pushed on the market.
The phone's name is not known either, nor the date when it might be launched, or the price it might feature at that time. Rumor has it that it might be either the Flip II (though it is a slider), or the LG Maxx Q. Hits at LG Q or LG Optimus Slider names emerged as well, though these are Sprint phones.
