Rock Band, the game that decided to give the immensely popular Guitar Hero a run for its money, is really having a good period right now. Harmonix has just announced that the long awaited Rush album, Moving Pictures, will be available for download next Tuesday for Xbox 360 owners and Thursday for PlayStation 3 users.

If I remember correctly, the album was set for release quite some time ago, but when it actually came to putting the content up for download, something went wrong, with the studio claiming technical difficulties and that the album would be launched in the weeks to follow. Well the wait is over; for 10.99 dollars or 880 Microsoft points, you can now get the seven track album. Alternatively, you can also pay per track, each of them costing 1.99 dollars.

For those users who aren't fans of the Canadian band, other songs will be launched simultaneously with this album, from bands like Bad Religion, The Cult, Hot Hot Heat, Kasabian, Sleater-Kinney, and The Stone Roses. All of these songs will be available for 1.99 dollars or 160 Microsoft Points per track. All of them will also be compatible with both the first game and the sequel.

For those of you who don't know yet, Rock Band was the title that taught us that a music game shouldn't be constricted to only the guitar, and that other instruments could also be played. It gave players the opportunity to play not only the guitar but also drums and vocals, each through their own dedicated peripherals. This game enjoyed a lot of success and now it is a serious contender to Activision's Guitar Hero, having launched a sequel a few days ago for the Xbox 360. Other console owners need to wait until October, for the PS3, or November, for the Wii and PS2.
