Concomitantly with the major overhaul of the portal for its developer community, Microsoft has also revamped the corner reserved for the underlining graphical technology in Windows. In this regard, the Redmond company has announced that a redesigned version of the DirectX Developer Center is now live. Hosted on the Microsoft Developer Network, the new DirectX Developer Center falls within the lines of the overall MSDN redesign, a move that the software giant regards as an upgrade. Devs already familiar with the DirectX content on MSDN will be able to take advantage of a less cluttered space, and of a new focus shifted on the key aspects of the technology.

“This new site is a complete overhaul of the developer center to make it easier for developers to find the content they are looking for. Using this new site, we hope to provide the best developer content for developers making great graphics applications on a regular basis,” revealed Michael Oneppo, PM, DirectX. “Right from the front page you’ll see the new design pushes the important content right to the front, including downloads, FAQs, documentation.”

Microsoft has also worked to make it easier for developers to discover and access seamlessly the latest DirectX-related releases. The vast majority of content on the new DirectX MSDN Center is now served through RSS feeds. “If you want to get the latest and greatest downloads or code samples the moment they’re available, you can easily subscribe to any feed by clicking the orange RSS button,” Oneppo added.

The company noted that it was in the process of continuing to improve developers’ access to DirectX resources on MSDN. Devs should be looking forward to new content being made available as well as the evolution of the DirectX forum.

“We know that code samples are an important way for developers to learn the ins and outs of our technologies, so we are working to simplify the way developers can get the code samples for DirectX. To this end, many of our important code samples have been made available on Code Gallery for direct download. In addition, we have a showcase of the latest DirectX tutorials right on the front page,” Oneppo said.
