Dozens of new Diablo III screenshots are available, courtesy of the folks at Gameinfowire. Diablo III, Blizzard Entertainment's highly anticipated action RPG title will allow players to revisit the world of Sanctuary where they must go against demonic forces threatening humanity once again.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo III takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. According to the game's plot, most of those warriors who directly faced the armies of the Burning Hells - and were fortunate enough to survive - went mad from their experiences. Most of the others have decided to push the horrors out of their thoughts. However, in Diablo III, players need to revisit Sanctuary and again confront evil, now in even more forms.

“Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy,” says the development team at Blizzard Entertainment. “It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level. We look forward to going into much more detail on our plans for Diablo III as development on the game progresses.”

Compared to the previous Diablo games, Diablo III adds exciting fresh classes like the witch doctor, bringing new gameplay options to the table. Returning classes, like the barbarian, have been completely redone with new skills to give them a feel unique to Diablo III, Blizzard has confirmed. As far as customization goes, fresh options will provide for an even greater level of character specialization, allowing players to create most unique characters.

Also noteworthy, Diablo III is powered by a new graphics engine that can display characters and hordes of monsters in lush, fully 3D environments. The player will be able to blast Hell’s minions in spectacular ways using powerful special effects systems and Havok-powered physics, Blizzard assures fans of the Diablo series. Developed simultaneously for Mac and PC, Diablo III is yet to be dated for the official, public release.
