As the premiere date (June 30) of the final season of Showtime’s “Dexter” is drawing closer, hype around it is building up fast. Above is a brand new promo pic for season 8, the cover of the Summer TV Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly.

The online preview includes a few statements from leading man Michael C. Hall, showrunner Scott Buck, and executive producer Sara Colleton. They all promise a season finale that won’t disappoint but, as expected, they won’t get into the details.

For starters, they want to make sure that fans understand that the ending had been planned years ago, it’s not something that writers came up with in the spur of the moment.

“It feels like the exact ending we should be doing. Ideally it will make our audience sit back and see Dexter a little more clearly than before. It should absolutely make sense to everybody watching it,” Buck says.

“It won’t feel like a ‘What the [hell]?’ We know we have the right ending, we just have to execute it correctly. There’s no emotional investments that aren’t going to be resolved,” Colleton adds.

Hall, on the other hand, opts to smile and say that he’s “intrigued.” So am I, Mr. Hall, so am I.
