Video game publisher Square Enix has trademarked the name Makind Divided in relation to the Deus Ex franchise, and many fans of the series believe that a game using it might be announced in the next few months.

According to data spotted by NeoGAF, the trademark applies to the usual video game and entertainment sectors, which means that there is a chance that the company might be working on a television series or some other sort of multimedia product.

In October of last year, Square Enix made an announcement about the future of Deus Ex, telling fans that it was working on a new concept called Universe, which was designed to integrate all the titles linked to the series into a connected experience.

Soon after, a casting call from the company talked about an actor who would portray an Illuminati Shadow Agent who was supposed to infiltrate the Augmented Rights Coalition.

The new Deus Ex video game will probably be developed in Montreal, and an official announcement might be made in time for E3 2014.

Square Enix has not offered any comments on the most recent leak about Mankind Divided.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a solid video game that critics praised for its intricate story and for its solid gameplay, and the publisher will probably want to keep the series going in the long term.
