After months of speculation and anticipation, Ridley Scott’s “Alien” reboot / prequel is finally heading into the right direction. It’s actually a stand-alone film and has a cast that is bound to bring audiences in the theater by star power alone.

As fans must know and as we also pointed out on several occasions, ever since announcing he’d be returning to “Alien,” Scott came across countless obstacles, including an alleged leak of the entire script.

Things are now in control – and heading into the right direction, with the film scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 1, 2012.

Such a close release date can only mean one thing: production will begin presently. With such an amazing cast, fans must undoubtedly be on the edge of their seat.

“Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie have joined the cast of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus,” Digital Spy confirms.

“The British trio will appear alongside Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender in the big budget science fiction project, which originated as a prequel to Scott’s classic space horror Alien,” says the same report.

“Monsters actor Scoot McNairy is also said to be in talks to join Prometheus as the love interest for Rapace’s scientist Elizabeth Shaw,” Digital Spy notes.

And that’s not all: one British publication even managed to get a hold of Scott and get him to speak of the highly anticipated project, says the same report.

As it turns out, it could very well be that the script for it hasn’t leaked because he personally made sure it was in a safe place, so as not to ruin the surprise for the fans.

“I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone,” Scott says.

In other words, the script that ended up online in October 2010 was not the real deal.

As for what fans should expect of the plot, Scott says: “It’s the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them. It’s not a small film. I’m using the giant James Bond 007 stage at Pinewood and six other sound stages to film it.”
