Advanced Micro Devices has just inaugurated its newest design center, located at Raheja Mindspace, HITEC City, Madhapur, in the center of Hyderabad's technology hub.

The facility is made of a whole bunch of engineering labs, equipment and office spaces, all of it enclosed within an area of 175,000 square feet.

It should be enough to accommodate hundreds of engineers.

Advanced Micro Devices will use the new research center for SoC development (system-on-chip).

That means that the Sunnyvale, California-based company might actually be planning to become more serious on the tablet market and mobile consumer electronics segment as a whole.

"AMD is committed to providing our customers with innovative, tailored technology solutions that empower people and deliver exceptional experiences," said Rory Read, president and chief executive officer at AMD.

"Our Hyderabad Design Centre will play an important part in that mission as the team works in concert with our other design centers around the world to deliver AMD's next round of innovative products."
