The tablets should have been out since yesterday, but they appear to be lagging

Back at Computex 2014, I told you Dell updated its existing Android tablet lineup by bringing out two new Venue models.

We were expecting to see the tablets go on sale starting with July 1, but obviously that didn’t happen. Nevertheless, the US launch doesn’t seem to be that far off. According to info coming to us from Eeevolution, the new Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8 have just made a stop at the FCC.

The original Venue tablets were launched back in 2013 and now Dell is building upon these base products to provide a new set with improved specifications.

First off, the company has bumped up the processor inside, throwing a new Merrifield platform in the mix.

The 8-incher takes the advantage of an IPS LCD display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and relies on an 2.1GHz Intel Atom CPU Z3480. Everything on the slate is fitted with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

Last but not least, the tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which is a very good reason to opt for the new model instead of the old one.

The Dell Venue 7 doesn’t have the same FHD resolution, limiting itself at offering 1280 x 800 pixels, but the tablet now takes advantage of an Intel Atom Z3460 and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

When the new Venues arrive on the market, the 7-inch should sell for $149 / €109, while the 8-incher will retail for $199 / €146.
