A man accused of taking part in the gang rape of a 23-year-old student in New Delhi, India last December, has been convicted.

Since he was 17 years old at the time, he has been tried in juvenile court under Indian law. He will only be serving a little over two years in jail.

The judge imposed a three-year imprisonment in juvenile detention, but he will be credited for the 8 months served so far.

He was found guilty on counts of rape and murder. As I wrote, the victim's male friend was beaten to death with a metal rod.

RT relays a report by local police who mention that he has abused the victim twice then “ripped out her intestines with his bare hands.”

He was also described as the most violent of the six men who participated in the assault.
