Palm's Pre Plus and Pixi Plus handsets have been released at the beginning of this week on the airwaves of Verizon Wireless in the US, and now they are available from various retailers around the country too, with even more appealing price tags than before. Not to mention that Palm is also selling them free of contract to those interested in making a purchase, and that the standard versions of the two phones, which are available via Sprint, can also be purchased this way.[admark=1]

The new deals on Pre Plus and Pixi Plus have been spotted by the guys over at PreCentral on Cell Stores, and they include a Pre Plus available for only $99.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with Verizon, and a Pixi Plus that goes for free with the same service agreement. Moreover, the offers are available with no mail-in rebate, so they should be more appealing than ever, though only new Verizon customers can benefit from them, it seems.

In related news, we learn that Gameloft has just added a new very appealing title to the App Catalog, namely Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles. The game comes with a graphically-rich interface powered by the Plugin Development Kit, and it is already available for purchase for only $6.99. Palm's webOS platform has been already demonstrated running 3D games at CES 2010, and the new title from Gameloft is expected to deliver an enhanced experience to all those willing to give it a try.

On the downside, Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles is said to not come to the original Palm Pixi too. It seems that the device just doesn't have the necessary raw power to handset the game, though the Plus version has received a boost that makes it a little stronger. Those who are able to play the game on their handsets should rejoice, while waiting for more of them to arrive.
