20th Century Fox has released a new poster for the upcoming continuation of the classic sci-fi cult classic reboot “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Caesar, the genetically-modified chimpanzee that goes on to become the leader of the evolved apes, is again at the center.

The character of Caesar is played by Andy Serkis, the man famous for portraying Gollum in the award-winning trilogy “Lord of the Rings,” and this time he is featured on the poster looking grimly and menacingly over his shoulder, while clutching an infant ape in his arms.

As with the previous posters, we can see that Caesar still has his war paint on his face, indicating that a showdown with the remaining humans is inevitable. The plot of the film revolves around a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar, who come into conflict with a band of human survivors.

The two groups reach a fragile peace in the wake of the virus outbreak that has caused the extinction of almost all humanity on Earth. The new conflict between the groups is set to determine the new dominant species of our planet.

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Matt Reeves and will be available out in movie theaters starting July 11, 2014.
