THQ and Vigil Games have just posted a brand new video for their upcoming Darksiders 2 hack and slash game, this time showing off the recently announced Arena mode, where players need to defeat waves of monsters for exclusive rewards.

Darksiders II has a lengthy single-player campaign and, in order to give players even more reasons to keep on playing, the game has several features like a New Game+ mode, which promotes multiple playthroughs, as well as a special Arena mode called the Crucible.

This last feature has now been showcased in a special video, with commentary from Darksiders 2 Lead Combat Designer, Ben Cureton.

The Crucible is unlocked around the midpoint of the campaign and offers rewards only in the form of exclusive gear, as experience points can’t be earned during these battles.

Check out the video above to admire some more footage from the Arena mode and look forward to the release of Darksiders 2 tomorrow, August 14, in North America, and next week, on August 21, in Europe and the rest of the world, for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
