Even though Guitar Hero's downloadable content comes less often than the DLC for RockBand, Activision's music game hit is clearly winning the freebie battle (if there is one) since, you know, it keeps giving away free gifts as great tracks. First, we had Dream On after Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was announced and now we have promises for more, bigger and meaner songs ready to be launched.

The St. Patrick's Day celebrations will be more fun this year, since Guitar Hero III will get a brand new DLC pack for free with songs from the popular Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys - expect this one to be available mid March. The pack will include tracks from the band's sixth album, The Meanest of Times, like: "Famous for Nothing," "(F)lannigan's Ball" and "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya." This music pack will be available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store.

And for those who would rather get some new things starting today - not for free this time - the Modern Metal pack is available to be purchased. It includes master recordings of Deftones' "Hole in the Earth," Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy" and Thrice's "The Arsonist." The track pack is available, as you surely imagine already, on Xbox Live Marketplace (for 500 MS points) and PlayStation Store, so you have no reason to wait any longer - just go ahead and get it!

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock offers the ultimate rock experience with new wireless guitars, freshly added content like this one that has just made available and its features include a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, boss battles, a host of unlockable content and visually stunning rock venues for the superstar inside you. Expanded online multiplayer modes allow axe-shredders worldwide to compete head-to-head for true rock status as they riff through a star-studded. Now, with three more available tracks.
