The memory was overclocked on an MSI X99S motherboard

You can be sure that DDR4 memory overclocking records will keep coming one after another, just weeks or a month apart, like they've been doing since 2014.

With memory makers still getting a hang of the new specification, refinements and greater OC headroom are being achieved every day.

ADATA DDR4 RAM held the record until now, with 4,225 MHz. Previously, the honor belonged to G.Skill.

The latest high score was achieved by MSI-favored overlcocked “Topcc” while using one 4GB HyperX Predator DDR4 module.

The RAM was installed on the MSI X99S XPOWER AC motherboard and with the help of an Intel Core i7-5960X CPU.

Normally, the Kingston module works at 3,333 MHz, which is already quite a bit for DDR4 RAM so early in their life. The test bench was able to push it to 4,351 MHz.

Quite fitting, seeing as how a 4-module HyperX Predator DDR4 3333MHz 16GB Kit is the fastest XMP-certified memory kit to date.

No doubt some professional overclocker or other, with or without sponsorship from a hardware brand, will overcome even this record sooner or later. Probably sooner. In a month or so. Until then, however, we'll give Kingston and MSI the credit they are due.
