CyberPower specializes in gaming platforms and, now, it seems it plans to populate the IT market with low- to high-end mobile platforms capable of meeting the requirements of even the latest PC games. The California-based manufacturer introduced its three latest such notebooks using the Intel Core i7 mobile CPU and Intel's new PM55 chipset. The laptops are the X7-7700 and the X6-9900, while the high-end model is the X7-8500.

Powerful, but not the most powerful, the 17-inch X7-7700 incorporates an Intel Core i7-720QM processor or either of the u7-820QM or i7-920QM. Its graphics adapter is the NVIDIA GTS250 and, as far as resources are concerned, it comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500GB 7200rpm HDD. Despite being the least capable, it includes Core i7 features such as TurboBoost, which can accelerate the clock speed by up to 75%, and the HyperThreading technology, which increases the performance for highly threaded applications.

The better and stronger notebooks are, however, the CyberPower’s 15.6-inch X6-9900 and the 17.3-inch X7-8500 notebook PCs. They incorporate all the features of the X7-7700, but can truly offer the pinnacle of gaming experience through their upgraded 1080P 1920x1080 display, and NVIDIA’s GTX 280M graphics card. Efficiency for computing tasks is delivered by the Core i7 and the P55 Mobile chipset. The only differences between the X6-9900 and the X7-8500 are their size and shape.

Naturally, for maximum I/O capabilities, the laptops come with a DVD writer (or Blu-ray player for the X6-9900 and X7-8500), a 2.0-megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, and an HDMI output. All three models will have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed.

The Xplorer X7-7700, X6-9900 and X7-8500 will start shipping on November 24 and have starting prices of $1,499, $1,885 and $2,119, respectively. They will have a one-year limited warranty and lifetime toll free tech support.
