The Xbox 360 has received several other controllers along the years, besides the standard black and white models. Now, it looks like a brand-new set of clothes will come for the device. Appearing only in the GameStop schedule, Microsoft seems to be preparing a red and black controller for the Xbox, expected to become available at the mentioned store on October 15.

The red and black wireless adapter for the 360 will be priced by GameStop at $69.99. A cool $20 over the standard wireless controller from Microsoft, the red and black model will also come with a black Play & Charge Kit. Normally, this is available on the market for the exact $20 price difference of the two controllers, so the market value of the new one is pretty much the same as the old ones. An official announcement regarding the adapter has yet to leave the Microsoft building along with any sort of replies for the demand of press comments.

The red/black tone combo is the latest addition to the 360 controller family, which also sports red, green, blue and the forever-popular but also forever-misunderstood pink models. Custom graphics controllers have also been released, inspired by the Halo 3 franchise. The latest Halo 3: ODST has inspired a green hued version, while other promotions delivered different results.

Microsoft's new idea doesn't seem to be all that inspired. With other companies dedicated to the sole purpose of creating custom controllers for consoles, a standard release in a different set of colors isn't going anywhere. No matter through how many panels they'll go, they won’t convince gamers to discard their old controller, if still functional, and replace it with one that does nothing but accessorize differently with the outfit. The sentence for the red and black controller might turn up to be just another black eye for Microsoft.
