This is what a potential Start Menu could look like in the next Windows release

Since Windows 8.1 is already here and it doesn’t bring back the traditional Start Menu, all hopes are now on Windows 9, the next full OS release scheduled for 2014.

DeviantArt user Tech8 has created what he calls a Windows 9 desktop concept that packs the familiar Start Menu too, thus providing access to installed apps a bit faster.

The Start screen is still there, but the Start Menu serves as a much faster way to launch apps from the desktop environment.

As you can see, this concept still needs some refinements, but it’s just another sign that users are still hoping that Microsoft would bring back the Start Menu at some point. Unfortunately, the company seems to be very keen on keeping the Start screen and never bring back the menu.
