Classic Shell remains one of the top Start Menu replacements out there, so it’s no surprise that developers are working really hard to improve the application on both Windows 8 and 8.1.

Version 3.9.3 beta was officially released this morning and brings a new setting to override the glass color used by the menu, while also comprising support for Nvidia surround and AMD eyefinity.

In addition, the new beta includes many fixes aimed at both Windows 8 and 8.1, so some of the crashes experienced on Microsoft’s new OS update should no longer be spotted.

Classic Shell works on both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, and is offered with a freeware license, so users looking for a third-party Start Menu can install it at absolutely no cost.
